Why I WORK AT exists.

Hi, I'm Ali. My partner and I own a couple of independent businesses in Plymouth. Like a lot of small business owners, I've always believed in backing other independents.

For years, if someone from another local business came in, I'd quietly knock a bit off the bill. It wasn't a scheme or a strategy. It was just a way of recognizing each other and saying, thanks for doing what you do in our city.

As our businesses grew, I found myself less present on the counter and those little gestures became harder to sustain. They relied too much on who happened to be serving that day, and that didn't feel fair.

That got me thinking: what if there was a simple consistent way for independent businesses to support each other's teams every day, not just in ad hoc moments? That's where I WORK AT comes from.

It's a simple idea. One digital pass that gives employees 15% off at participating independent businesses. No complex rules, no gimmicks, just something straightforward that works in the real world.

For employers, it's a benefit that people will actually use. For employees, it's money saved on everyday spending, and for businesses, it's more local footfall and stronger ties between our local communities.

I genuinely believe that when independent businesses support each other's teams, everyone benefits. That's what we're trying to build.
